While You Wait for Your Child's Emergency Dentistry Appointment, Follow These Tips
Do you know what to do if your kid experiences a sudden dental emergency? From sports injuries to accidentally slipping in the bathtub, Dr. Ochoa wants parents to be prepared for dental emergencies. First, alert the Clover Hills Dentistry team about your child’s symptoms so Dr. Ochoa can set aside time to treat them. While you wait for your child’s in-person emergency dentistry appointment, please follow these pre-appointment tips:
Toothaches
Parents can give their children over-the-counter pain medication and topical analgesics to relieve toothaches until Dr. Ochoa can treat the root of the problem.
Something Stuck Between The Teeth
When something gets stuck in the teeth, it can cause discomfort. If a toothpick or floss doesn’t dislodge the object, ask your child to forcefully swish with warm water, mouthwash, or saltwater for at least 30 seconds.
If this doesn’t do the trick, our pediatric emergency dentist can carefully and safely remove the object or food particle that is stuck and causing irritation.
Knocked-Out Teeth
Find the knocked-out tooth and pick it up by the crown (top of the tooth). Then, store the tooth in a glass of milk and call our office immediately. If replaced within an hour, Dr. Ochoa might be able to save the tooth.
